Broken DE10-Nano USB OTG Port

Unread post by bgibson72 »

I am a MiSTer noob with minimal experience with hardware repair, but I have a dire situation that I'm hoping someone can assist with. I have owned my MiSTer for only about 9 months or so, and the USB OTG port on the DE10-Nano board that I plug my USB hub into has broken off.

I imagine this happened due to my carelessness of putting the unit (which was in a case) in my backpack.

So my question is, am I able to re-solder this to the board? If not, can I continue to use the nano without the usb hub that was connected to the port?

I'd say if you need to ask, you probably won't have the experience/confidence with a soldering iron to do the repair. You risk irreparably damaging the DE10-Nano, lifting delicate traces or cooking a nearby component.

I would seek out someone locally with electronics experience to do it for you; it isn't a huge job but I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. Hopefully the pads aren't damaged.
