Hi,
Speaking of development compatibility issues for MiSTer cores, are there any notable differences between Quartus ver. 17.1.x and 17.0.x? At the moment I have 17.1.x installed and running, if I plan to contribute to the development should I switch to 17.0.x?

If you want to contribute then better to use 17.0.
You still can use 17.1 but you need to watch when you submit PR, so setting files (qsf,qpf,qip) won't be submitted.
