PAL composite out and NTSC games

Unread post by bricabrac »

Hello,

first of all sorry for lame question but so far I couldn't find definitive answer to it.

I am very much interested in getting composite signal out of MiSTer simply to get rid of the dithering present in PSX games but also to smoth out the image elswhere, e.g. MD. Unfortunatelly, regardless of how cool my BVM 2011P is, it is a PAL region monitor and lacks NTSC decoder board what renders NTSC composite signal in monochrome. Obviously, I want to play in 60Hz where possible and so far I have been successfully doing so using RGB output.

My question is will setting ntsc_mode to 1 (PAL-60) and toggling Active YC Adapter to PAL result in colour 60Hz picture out of NTSC region games on PAL monitor? Or will I be limited to PAL games only anyways? Has maybe someone tried it and could confirm if it works? I am asking to avoid buying an addon (YC adapter) which won't be of much use in my setup.

Many thanks in advance.
