Can't Upgrade Linux

Hi,
I launched update_all, everything worked fine but couldn't upgrade Linux from 221224->230501 due to lack of space on FAT (can't download linux.7z)
So, I deleted the existing linux.7z -and a partial download- from media/fat, then run update_all again and I menaged to download the (I guess) correct linux.7z, but the installer gives ERROR: E_FAIL "could not uncompress the linux installer"
update_all ends saying "MISTer has been updated successfully".
How do I fix it? What could cause the lack of space on FAT since all my games are on USB?
Should I point the download of linux.7z to a different path on USB? How?
Thanks.

The Linux part isn’t on your USB device for obvious reasons, and I assume (never having used USB drives with the MiSTer myself) that the update/download/unpack/replace also happens on the SD card. I’d start with checking how much free space you have on the SD card, and also use a tool that can show you where the space is going, maybe you have some old files that are taking up that space.

Thanks, I solved deleting all the subfolders on media\fat\games and it worked.
