Questions for users without an IO board

From time to time I see people who only have the DE10 Nano and USB hub and wish there were case options (besides 3D printed). I'm considering designing an acrylic case for these people, but I have some questions. Do you have a fan in such a setup? Does it plug into the GPIO? I ask because I would assume I need to accommodate holes to screw in a fan into the top plate of such an acrylic case. Are there any other things I need to consider?

Hi,
I don't have the IO Board, only the DE10 board and SDRAM.
To keep the GPIO1 free (for the DExx-vd_isl board), the 5v fan is plugged in the ADC Header.

Interesting, what is the fan mounted to? Is it a 40 mm?

I am using a 30mm fan (from Amazon) and printed this:

Awesome, thanks. I'm thinking to make hole mounts for a 40 mm fan in the top plate so that people can mount one if they want

When I was building my third one I used the 40mm version of the one Calolo posted until I received more parts. I used this one in a little 3d printed arcade cab that wasn't really designed for anything bigger than an RPi4. 40mm fans will run a bit quieter and are more readily available, so that is probably the right way to go for your design.

Excellent, that was going to be my next question. I'm trying to come up with a good compromise design so I don't end up with three versions to accommodate different setups. In my view this will simply replace a fan bracket, or if people have a smaller fan directly attached to a heatsink, the vent holes will still function

So I'm looking at my MiSTer acrylic case from https://misterfpga.co.uk/, and the case I would be making would have to be literally the same size to accomodate the height of the SDRAM. Basically almost the same case but with fewer holes
Is this something people would want?
