Saturn Core Does Not Launch Games

If you are using the latest unstable release of the Saturn core, did you make sure to also use the latest unstable build of the Main mister binary?
There were changes to both today to make CHD loading also work. You have to have both updated if you are using the bleeding edge unstable release of the Saturn core.
you need boot.rom
and saturn is in main now. it will be downloaded with update_all
I don't think the boot.rom is part of update_all yet; the core was asking for a bios when I tried the official launch version just now.
Also, a lot of games weren't booting for me. Only game that launched was Salamander Deluxe Pack, but on a CRT it was skewed over to the left side of the screen.

that is not what i said. you need a bios named boot.rom in the games/saturn folder for it to work.
Even with boot.rom I can't load any game

Can someone point me in a direction to get those binaries for people that do not use discord ?
I put a bios copy into every game folder and have only had an issue launching 1 game out of about 20 I tried this morning. That being Shinobi Legions. I was actually surprised I didn't have any issue with the translation patch games I had.

Yes, it had been skewed to the left for many revisions.. i hope it is fixed in future releases.
As I learned yesterday, Shinobi Legions works. You just have to disable controller 2.
In my case, it always says the drive door is open and it doesn't load anything

Yes, correct. It's bug in the game.
Nope, I tried everything. Nothing loads. The core is broken as hell. Don't know why some can play and others not. At this status the Core far beyond BETA. Sorry, but for me it's crap at this state.
No true, it must be your settings as every game i throw at it works.
It's going to depend on what bios you have as your boot.rom. Mine generally works on most things, but occasionally I am having to use a different one for certain stuff. I am only really trying Japanese versions of games atm however.

@kolwe-x
You obviously sorted it out. Have fun.
Oh ok so he is acting ignorant. The developer said those rams would no work properly because of bandwidth.
So i just read you have the 4C ram stick. Listen to the people. The ram has issues with the core. It is not the core it is the ram.
I apologise for my comments. Yes, it was the 4C Ram. Didn't know that one was in my MiSTer build. Sorry my mistake. I've tested it with the 2C Ram and now it works

Thank you!
Check that your Region setting matches the game also. For instance, I couldn't get DonPachi (Japan) working until I changed my Region to Japan in the OSD menu and reset the core.
I have a lot of files that i downloaded where it says that - try a different rom, i downloaded off archive org the entire japanese romset and none of them work with the core, however if i download some of the games from a different source, they all work.
I put update all, the Saturn core is now included on my list. I then put a rom on my sd card in the Games / Saturn folder (Space Harrier), and went to load it, but it doesn't work.
Anything I'm missing?
What does "it doesn't work" mean? What format are the games in? Do you have a proper BIOS listed as boot.rom?
I'm fairly clueless at this stuff. It's like Chinese to me trying to understand it, hence I waited for the update all rather than try to do anything before.
It's a CD-Rom file. I'm sure I got those types of file to work with the PSX. It then showed up when I went to load it, but nothing happened when I clicked on it to load.
I just updated all. Where do I find a bios and where do I put it?
What's the extension of the file?
I can't point you specifically at a BIOS, but downloading a file with a md5sum of 3240872c70984b6cbfda1586cab68dbe (Google is your friend) and putting it in games\Saturn named boot.rom will likely get you further.
I googled "md5sum of 3240872c70984b6cbfda1586cab68dbe", but I don't know what I'm looking for. This stuff always completely loses me.
Sounds like you may want to enlist a local techie to get you through things - all you need to Google for is the 324...dbe part (no quotes or anything), but there's a number of things you're likely going to need to tweak and adjust that you may not be comfortable with. MiSTer is many things, plug-and-play isn't one. =)

Fortunately, my best mate falls into the category of techie, so I've got it running now. Thanks for your pointers, I ran what you said by him.
