NSO Nintendo 64 Controller Needs to Be Paired Each Time

Unread post by Brettster »

I've been using MiSTer for many years and not really had any issues before with controllers
but each time I switch on the MiSTer the official NSO controller needs to be re paired before it will work.

When going through the pairing process, it finds and removes the previous pair.
Is there a file I can rename, edit to wipe out all existing paired controllers?

I'll add that I have many other BT controllers that work as expected, just this NSO one giving me issues

I have never had the issue. Do you both have a combined WIFI/BT ? that seems to be causing issues

Yes I do, actually, maybe it's something with the NSO 64 controller, as the other NSO controllers are fine. as are all the other 8bitdo etc
I'll try it with a separate BT dongle and see
Thanks for the tip :)

Are you using the updated kernel with the new driver included in it? AFAIK, it was only released via Discord.

Did anyone reset their bluetooth profile ?
by renaming MiSTer_Data/linux/bluetooth file to MiSTer_Data/linux/bluetooth.bak
Then reboot and pair just the NSO Nintendo 64 controller?

Same issue here, using a combo WiFi/BT dongle and the unstable Mister and zimg dtb with the N64 NSO support. Think I had the same pairing issue w another NSO controller, the SNES one I believe.

Thank you for taking the time to post :)
I did try this, but alas in my case, no change. :(

Quick update. I tried another BT only dongle and the NSO N64 controller is working fine now.
It's an Asus Bluetooth 5.0

Thanks all for the help and suggestions

Can also confirm success, when using a separate Wi-Fi and separate Bluetooth adapter, the NSO N64 controller is able to re-connect even after turning the MiSTer off and on. Currently using the ASUS BT 500 adapter, I'm sure others would work as well (listed here https://mister-devel.github.io/MkDocs_M ... bluetooth/) .

The NSO controllers still require an extra button press after launching or changing cores in order to pick up a controller assignment (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) but that's always been the case, not sure MiSTer can resolve that. Slightly annoying but only when changing the core.
