How do I get the joystick set up in windows 95 in the A 486 core?

You need specific drivers for Windows 95 for joystick support typically (going off of memory here).
Right click My Computer --> Properties --> Device Manager.
Check to see if the com ports have any errors and check to see if the game controllers have any errors.
It's usually because you need to install some kind of game port driver which I don't think came with windows 95.
