I love the MiSTer project / platform / community. All of it!

There's just one minor thing that I've never quite gotten over....

The name.

There's nothing at all wrong with the name in fact, indeed it's a fine name, it's just not one that's very easy to use in polite conversation.

Here are some examples (using Mr as that's what people hear): -

"I'm going to play with my Mr" - Sounds like I'm masturbating.
"I'm going to play on Mr" - Sounds worse than the above.
"I'm going to play Mr" - Sounds like I'm putting my big boy pants on taking charge.

The examples could go on forever.

To suggest that the project be renamed is proposterous!
I'd never do such a thing.

Instead, I offer a solution.

Throw a "y" on the end

MiSTery

Add sparkles, glitter and a puff of smoke if you wish (I did)

My ideas work for the day is done. I'm off home to give my MiSTer some attention.

Hehe, I understand your complaints, but MiSTery already is the name for the Atari ST core. Yes, you're right that "Mr." (or "MiSTer") is somewhat "difficult" (try to search for MiSTer things in the internet) - and that's why I'm always using "(the) MiSTer FPGA". Just works in all situations.

Just my 2c.

"mister saturn" is actually sort of a difficult Google search. Boing!

Just call it MiSTer FPGA...

I use a Ironclad ITX I don't think that sounds any better, maybe more mysterious ...

It's the legacy from being a fork of MiST

Thanks, was not aware of the "Ter"

And the Mi part before even MiST comes from MiniMig, which I suppose which came from calling Amigas "Migs" for short...

Pretty neat grandfather of the MiSTer with real 68000 paired with a FPGA to replace the custom chips.
