Jotego abandoned his first attempt at the CPU and is now doing it another way
If you give it to Robert Peip, he will do it in 2 months tops
First beta has been released today.

Both of you shouldn't act so entitled and toxic.
I think I still have my NGPC buried somewhere. I was really excited to get it at the time. That is until I couldn't get any games for it. You just couldn't find any in any of the usual game stores, and then it was just gone after that. I think I played Capcom vs. SNK the most, but the other two games I had just weren't great, and I honestly can't remember for sure which ones they were.
It'll be fun to dig into the library now that a core is available. I never did bother with much software emulation. I'm glad Jotego kept at the effort!
Just as a hint: Pictures for tty2oled, tty2tft and tty2rpi already available. Hail to the king(s)!

Don't see what's entitled or toxic about our posts. How about you get-off your high horse instead?

Yeah I agree it wasn't that bad geez. We know it's hard work and Jotego gave us CPS2 and a lot more. We love him
Yeah I agree it’s not being entitled for someone to announce they’re working on a core like 2 years ago and have radio silence until a few months ago and be annoyed. Happy that this core is finally getting across the finish line and I heard that it will be located in the console section when all is said is done which is a good thing. Just hope Jotego adds the QoL features that are standard for console cores such as saving, and if we’re lucky link cable support but that may be asking too much.
Btw, any word on if the Neo Geo Pocket Color core will be worked on?

He mentioned that in this releasy only the monochrome bios is supported, I would interpret this as an colour will come but getting monochrome to a proper state has priority. Both share the same CPU and this seems by far to be the hardest part.
He mentioned in the Patreon post that there are a few bugs, and colour is still do be completed... but he's going back to finish a few arcade games off before then.
Jotego's NGP core has now been released to the public. It is still only in monochrome and somewhat awkward in loading roms, but it is nice to get something out.

Is this supposed to come in through the Update All script? I ran that last night, but didn't see the core in my Console folder.

All of Jotego's cores are put into the Arcade subfolder by the update_all script.

I see it there now. Thanks! I will have to make a MGL file to link to it in the Console folder...
Are there instructions for using this core? When I try to load a game it says no ngp directory found. What is the correct way to place games into the JTNGP folder assuming that’s where games go? Are there other files that are required?
The core will look in a NGP folder so I renamed the JTNGP folder. You are supposed to start the core, then power off using the virtual power button, only it is named coin in the buttons setting, took me a while to figure out. Then you select the game and press coin again to load. I suppose in the future it could all be automated when loading a core.
And a better saturn core
Thanks mike I was able to get it working. After testing some games the Neo Geo Pocket monochrome works well for most games. The Neo Geo Pocket Color had some issues with displaying video. I could hear the audio but video didn't display properly. Any reason why this might be? I picked games from the compatible game list including SNK Gals' Fighters and Rockman - Battle & Fighters. I'm using roms from the most recent No-Intro rom sets. Are these not the correct roms to use? Should I be using a different rom set?
Yeah, I also had some games that wouldn't show video but could hear the audio working eg samurai showdown would show the intro then lose the image. The core is basically in a public beta state so I wouldn't worry too much.
The core is not for NGP Colour. Its only for the B+w version.

I just get into the settings screen. Pressing coin leaves it white background and nothing else.
Any clue in right roms?
I don't have any power option in the core settings btw
If you look in the Arcade alternatives folder you will find a Neo Geo Pocket Color mra. There is also a list of compatible games for NGP and NGPC found here, https://github.com/jotego/jtcores/tree/master/cores/ngp. Though upon testing the color games many of them were not working so I'm not understanding the compatibility there. Unless Jotego tested his cores with specific romsets that were not taken from No-Intro.
To answer your question jordi, after you press coin and get to the white screen then you load your game through the OSD menu. For the Neo Geo Pocket mra you need to have a NGP folder inside the games folder for it to locate your roms when loading them. For the Neo Geo Pocket Color mra you need to have a NGPC folder inside the games folder to locate your roms. Use ngp roms with the NGP core and ngc roms with the NGPC core. I personally use No-Intro roms because those are the most trusted. After loading your rom then it will bring up the settings screen. Click through the settings and it will start into the chosen game. When you want to play a different game then you have to repeat the process again. Coin to white screen, load your rom, click through settings, play game.

Oh lot of thanks!! It was it
I think i am misreading something or being stupid, but I am having a hard time figuring this out
Where does the RBF file go? Under Arcade or Console?
Some guidelines on the folder structure required for this core would be greatly appreciated
update all downloads it to the correct location. Its in the arcade directory but needs a directory NGP created in the games directory for the roms
It shouldnt be in the aracde directory but JT cores all go here and so its misplaced.
