Cursor Moves 2 Spaces Instead of 1

Unread post by misterrocks »

Has anyone else had trouble with the cursor that highlights text moving 2 spaces instead of 1 when moving up or down? It only happens in the Scripts dialogs like ini_settings and gamesmenu but it happens every time I move up or down there so it isn't due to accidentally moving twice. The real MiSTer menus work fine. I'm using a Neo II Fighting Stick.

It sounds like a bouncing issue. Most modern joysticks and fight stick controllers account for it in firmware with debouncing, as it can be a significant problem with microswitches at the end of buttons/sticks with a lot of travel. It is probably also accounted for in Main and the OSD which would explain why it's only happening on the terminal.

Outside of using another controller or falling back to SSH/Wizzo's Remote Script it is probably something you will have to live with.

Interesting. Is it problematic for gameplay?

It can be, yes. Depends on the game and how they handle input.
