Only the N64 core stretches the image

I have a 1440p monitor. In my ini file, I have the video mode set to 14. This works well for the cores I use - SNES, MD, NES, GB, and some arcade games I play. I see a 4:3 image on my screen for these systems.
When I try the N64 core with video mode 14 I get no video. If I set it to any other video mode, the display stretches to 16:9. I have the aspect ratio in the core set to original. Shouldn't the N64 core be giving me a 4:3 image like the other cores I mentioned above? The picture below is when I set the video mode to 13.

Are you referring to the date of the core? If so, the N64 core is March 22 2024.

I was referring to the date, yes.
Do you have any previous cores you can try?
There is also an unstable build available dated 24.04.25
does;
vscale_mode=0
appear in you ini?
Do you have any other settings in your ini for N64?
You could try adding

the default for all my cores is vscale_mode=1.
Under my N64 section in the ini I just have video_mode=13 that's it.

Is it possible your monitor is stretching it?
What happens if you set the N64 core to mode 14?
ETA:
I just set my ini to give N64 a 4:3 resolution and it stretches it on my 16:9 monitor. I think setting a 16:9 video_mode will fix the problem for you

Well this is weird. So I went into the N64 core then opened the OSD for my monitor. There is indeed a setting in there for aspect ratio. It was set to "wide fill". So I switched it to "original" and now the core displays the image properly as 4:3.
You would think though that if this monitor setting affected the N64 core, it would have affected all the other systems I have played that are 4:3. So weird. Anyway, thanks for helping me out

If it wasn't for the statement in bold, the OSD setting for aspect ratio would have been my first suggestion... lol. Glad you got it worked out!
