Intellivision: Using Xbox right stick for Numpad

Has anyone gotten this to work?
I would like to use the right stick for the numpad in other words:
Upper left =1, up =2, upper right = 3 etc, etc.
This would be especially great for Tron Deadly Disks and Night Stalker and make them like twin stick shooters.
If so, can you post your Intellivision config perhaps?

I haven't tried it, but you might be able to assign joystick functions to key presses in the core menu and accomplish it that way. I don't have it in front of me and I am not sure what the menu option is called but I think it is available in all cores (assign joystick buttons or something like that). Define the joystick directions to the keyboard functions that work as the number pad. Edit: This most likely will not work after thinking about it.

I couldn't get the diagonals to work but I assigned 2,4,6,8 to U,L,R,D on the right stick through the core's "Define Intellivision Buttons" process. Works great with Night Stalker as that game only fires in 4 directions. You can press Menu each time you want to skip unneeded buttons/numbers like 5,7,9 and assign the others to preference.

It would be great if the core could be updated to support this as an input option. Like the two thumbsticks and the four triggers.
I added a request: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Intv_MiSTer/issues/29

Well, my obsession with using the Xbox controller for Intellivision has come full circle.
Introducing Xbox Controller diagrams! It has become so hard to find any adapters that work with Intellivision controllers that I decided to make a diagram. Set up your controller this way and let me know if it works for you.
