Ironclad Plus - VGA output woes

Hello, newbie here, I wonder if someone could please help/advise…

I have an “Ironclad Plus” baseboard (not sure what rev. - how do I tell?) for my DE10-Nano and everything’s great, apart from I cannot get the analogue VGA port to work. It’s not like I get a corrupt, unstable, or rolling image... I simply get NOTHING.

I'm using an Acorn AKF50 monitor that syncs from 15kHz through to 31kHz which I know works perfectly, as it’s fine via an HDMI-to-VGA dongle. I also use this monitor with my RGB-Pi set-up via a SCART to 15W D-Type adaptor and it’s fine here also.

The fact I get absolutely nothing (truly indistinguishable to if the monitor wasn’t plugged in at all) suggests perhaps I should be looking at a hardware rather than a software issue?

Is there ANY known configuration setting which could cause NOTHING to be sent via the analogue VGA port? What might I have missed?

Many thanks,

Ian

If you got the right equipment you could test the output pins of the VGA connector and see if they produce the right voltage(s)? (Or any voltage for that matter?)

I'd recommend looking up the pinout schematic to find out what pin is assigned to a signal or ground.

If you don't have anything like that you could try inspecting the board with a magnifying glass and check if any trace(s) or other component(s) might be damaged?

Otherwise contact the manufacturer of the board and try to get support for your problem?

Thank you so much for your speedy reply!

I bought the whole assembly from a highly conscientious seller on eBay, but it's clear they'd never tried/needed to use the analogue video outputs.

Anyway, after several days of head scratching, in the last hour I’ve embarrassingly realised what the issue was… Yes, a cable is missing and wasn’t included! The one with the yellow arrow pointing to it. Doh!

I’ve now been in touch with the seller again who has found the missing cable and said they'll post it to me ASAP! The reason he hadn't fitted it was because the unit currently has a second memory module which blocks the fitment of this cable.

Anyway, sorry for wasting your time, but thanks once again for your reply 😊
