Is an external USB hub necessary?

Good day,

A month has passed since I first acquired a MiSTer and hooked it up to a CRT using the analog board. For a more authentic experience, I plan to get USB adapters for the various OEM gaming controllers I own for ancient systems when the funds and time permit.

Compared to where I would like to sit, the MiSTer is rather distant. Though, you can plug in your device at that very spot... I was hoping that connecting a powered USB hub near my desk with a USB wire of about ten to fifteen feet would make everything easier. Can you think of any drawbacks to this? Does the MiSTer require direct connection of USB controllers and Daemon adapters, for reasons like as low latency or power consumption?

I appreciate you taking the time to consider this.

A usb hub will work just fine. I would suggest getting an externally powered hub, so peripherals you add to it will not pull power from the de10-nano psu.

Connecting a powered USB hub near your desk with a USB cable that is ten to fifteen feet long can be a convenient solution for using Daemon controllers and switches with the MiSTer.Geometry Dash World However, there are some potential issues to consider, such as latency, performance, and power consumption. Long USB cables can degrade signal quality and increase latency, which can impact your gaming experience if precision is required. Make sure that the USB hub is adequately powered and that the connected devices do not exceed its power capacity.
