Hey everyone.
I cant seem to get the coin button to add any credits to games. Ive only really tried the metal slug games but no matter which button i map the coin function to it doesnt seem to work. I feel dumb asking but am i missing something here?
Thanks

Have you mapped the controller in the main OSD menu before the core?
Which Neo Geo BIOS are you using (UniBIOS, AES/MVS)?
Is the input device you're using an x-input device or set to the x-input mode?
Failing that could you give a broader description of your setup?

I feel like reading these forums is just confusing to me. Im really not sure how to answer most of these questions ive never dealt with any of this stuff before.
Ive tried both “unibios” and “original” my games are in the .neo format.
I dont know what an “x-input” device is and cant figure out how to set it to x-input mode. Sorry im a total noob on this stuff.
I remapped my controller in the main menu outside the core but that didnt help either
Im using a 8bitdo controller with a mister without an i/o board.

Update after trying different bios options now multiple inputs arent working on my 8bitdo controller. Down, jump etc…
BUT I did get the coin button working it was as simple as changing the system type to arcade. It was set to console.
This input problem is the same on both my 8bitdo controllers. Tried remapping many times. Now i cant jump or crouch

Ive been hitting my head against a wall trying to figure out why now i cant jump or crouch using any of my 8bitdo controllers. Ive tried remapping and bios changes.
Unless theres some x-input related thing im unaware of im not sure how else to troubleshoot this new annoying problem

Try deleting the neo geo core settings in the config and input folder and retry.

Do this.

Read the manual for your 8bitdo devices. There will be a button combination or physical toggle that switches the controller/receiver to x-input mode.
Make sure your 8bitdo controller/reciever is in x-input mode.
Set up your controller in the main menu and bind all the buttons as prompted.
Set up the controller in the core and bind all the buttons as prompted.
DirectInput or d-input is an older standard and can be quite incompatible. X-input is a modern, more compatible standard. Some controllers also have a Switch or console specific modem those are also best avoided.

I had the same problem. I solved it yesterday.
Do you use two buttons to activate the osd?
If the first button you press to activate the osd is the same as your coin button it will not work.
