Hey everyone.
I feel the need to mention im a total noob here so talk to me like im 12 with this stuff.
Im using an 8bitdo controller and got everything neogeo functioning finally but now that ive figured out all my other problems i have inputs that used to work that now, dont.
Ive tried multiple 8bitdo controllers and they are all doing the same thing. I cant jump or crouch anymore no matter what i do. If someone could explain to me how x-input mode works and how to use it?
Im not sure what else to try.
Thanks in advance

Have you registgered the controller in the MiSTer main menu? Not the core?

Make sure you didn't switch to dinput or something. Better: try another controller.

Are you using the 8bitdo adapter? Do you have the latest firmware?

What happens when you rebind the buttons? Does it accept the inputs while settings bindings?

I don’t know how it works on all 8bitdo controllers but on mine there is a switch that is labeled S and D. One works with my phone but not the MiSTer and vice versa. My controller specifically needs to be set to D to work with MiSTer.

Mine is switched to work with my mister. 80% of my bindings work but a few dont. When i rebind my controllers it accepts them like normal then they just dont work when i go to play
Ive got all other cores working fine with the same controller but for some reason neogeo wont map properly. It was working fine yesterday.

I appreciate your help!
But after beating my head against a wall i may just have to accept that my neogeo core wont work properly for whatever reason. Its a mystery to me.

Have you tried deleting the input settings from the config folder on the root of the MiSTer? There is no reason why it shouldn't work. The gamepad is fairly common.

I havent. Im a noob and dont know much about manually changing things. Im assuming its a directory on my memory card if i use my PC? If i delete it do i just have to remap and carry on?

What controllers do you use on mister? First thing I would do is setup the controllers in main menu first and then go to input tester and see is that is correct. Afterwards you can configure each core. But first double check main is correct using the input test core.

What is the easiest way for you to access the files on your SD?
SSH, FTP, mounting in PC, etc.?
if you use SSH, or F9 on a keyboard connected to your DE10- from the command line;
Code: Select all
rm /media/fat/config/inputs/NEOGEO_input*.map
as per the suggestion above.
I believe the command is the same if connected via FTP
if you mount the SD card in your PC, navigate to config/inputs and delete the NEOGEO_input map files.
I would then recommend a hard reboot if you used SSH/FTP/F9 then I would rebind the controller first in the menu and then again in the core, remember to hit the SAVE option after binding the controls in the core. I'm not 100% sure if saving is necessary, I just assume so.

You can go the way dickhardpill suggested or you can pop the SD card in your PC and delete everything with NEOGEO in its name in the folder
config/inputs/
of your SD card.
