Which Amiga games run with more fps with D-Cache Option?

Unread post by heinzgruber »

The way I understand it the with the D-Cache Option activated in System of the Amiga Core 3D games should run with more fps. I've tried it in Amiga Vision with Gloom, Alien Breed 3D and Alien Breed 3D II but especially Alien Breed 3D II is so slow its unplayable. No matter if D-Cache is on or off. The other titles neither profit form this option.

I've already set the option and restarted the core etc. but it doesn't change anything. Has anyone made a good experience with D-Cache on?

Thanks

Alien Breed 3D II is slow. You would need a 68040 or 68060 CPU for acceptable speed. Really smooth is the game only in WinUAE Emulation with JIT enabled. You could try games where WHLoad actively enabled the CPU caches. Check the WHDLoad installer Readme files for that.

Also, some of the 3D games will benefit immensely from using certain RTG resolutions since they support “chunky pixel” modes.

In any case, MiSTer isn’t the super fast “fantasy Amiga”, it performs on the level of a 50MHz 68030, which isn’t particularly fast. If you want a fast Amiga, emulation is a better choice.

I haven't tried them via MiSTer. But yes, they should work smoother. On my A1200 i can confirm it for the games i i'd tested.
