As my first FPGA, I am looking for a assembled MiSTer (ie https://misteraddons.com/products/miste ... 5710678149), but I still want to have a good understanding of what to buy to avoid finding out that I bought the wrong parts, or should have bought additional hardware. I am likely to buy a fully assembled MiSTer simply to avoid trouble shooting assembly and config problems with little FPGA knowledge. I have the skills\experience to work through it, but rather skip that part of the process with my first FPGA.
NOTE: I do have a FPGA. Earlier this year I bought a dedicated Tempest FPGA for my Atari Tempest cabinet, and it works perfectly. After adding the rom images, it took less than 5 minutes to install the hardware. Turned it on and it just worked as if I had just replaced the original PCB board.
