Loss of performance with filters?

Today I had this concern. Mister, do you know about FPS or performance losses if filters are applied? He asked me if I played on PC, Raspberry, etc. Mister has FPS losses etc. when applying filters (scanline, etc.) My perception is that no, but I know that there are programmers on the project who will clear up my doubts. Many thanks.
(Sorry, English is not my native language.

After literally years of playing...no, I've never seen any evidence of performance loss on MiSTer as a result of use of filters.

No there is not any perceptible performance penalty. My understanding is that MiSTer now uses the open source ASCAL scaler, you can read more about the implementation here.

I think it's important to understand that this is not comparable to the shaders used in software emulators at all and is all done in hardware via the VIP.

The filters are on the ARM side. Most of the cores don't use the ARM CPU at all. Only some cores use it for implementing the CD-ROM drive, or MSU-1 in the case of SNES.
