Black Tiger is out of sync

A friend and I have a problem that current Black Tiger is going out of sync on a HDMI monitor. Jotego states that he have checked about this but couldn't find an issue. The version from August 9th is still working fine.
Hence the question for you guys if anyone else is having such an issue - possibly related to HDMI setups.

Using jtbtiger.rbf that was downloaded on my system on 8/31, size 2983224, md5sum d0939865cf559cd6dfd9c24165482442, the core is outputting exactly 60Hz (not 59.97 or 60.60). Should be no issue whatsoever for HDMI, even with vsync_adjust=2.
Any possibility you're somehow overriding the screen mode/resolution in MiSTer.ini or using VRR (which I've found to be pretty dicey, even on a FreeSync Pro)?

Interesting. md5 is the same, but core is running at 80Hz here (the old one still at 60Hz). No setting/filter/anything in use, changed or I'm aware of but will re-check mister.ini later - I'm sure that I've changed one setting in the past for ScummVM.

I am „the friend“ from RealLarry.
My „video_mode“ is set to „0“ (1280x720@60).
My MiSTer with older Black Tiger works fine with 60Hz on my FHD TV.

My tty2oled-Test-MiSTer with the latest Black Tiger Version shows Signal Error and 120Hz on my Eizo Monitor.
I don‘t have an VRR Options in my ini file.

It seems that the template I used for my MiSTer.ini file was a bit too old (>2 years).
I tried an actual one from MiSTer Devel Github and it works now.
//correction
Its not the ini file, it was the video_mode=0 setting on my test-mister setup using an Eizo FlexScan 2795.
If I disable video_mode=0 i get…
- IMG_1265.jpeg (1.22 MiB) Viewed 2093 times
instead of an error.

Got it also to work. video_mode doesn't matter (defaults to 0, mine is 4), but vsync_adjust! vsync_adjust defaults to 0 and if I set this to 2 ("low latency mode (single buffer)") the current core of Black Tiger is running at 60Hz again.
Strange but true.

Update
with my Eizo FlexScan the best for BlackTiger is
;video_mode=0 #commented out
vsync_adjust=0
Another working combo is
video_mode=0
vsync_adjust=2
but here takes longer to get a stable picture.

I have a similar problem with the games "Gaplus" and "Galaga3". I can confirm you issue with Black Tiger. In my case, am am using vsync_adjust=1. With vsync_adjust=2, the problem is not present (or at least not as visible).
The problem seems to get worse the lower the resolution is, which could explain your differences with video_mode settings when using vsync_adjust=0.
I mentioned it on the discord a few days ago, some people are already looking into it.

I did some more testing, with Black Tiger, the problem persists with vsync_adjust=2.

How is your video_mode set?

If I use
video_mode=0 and
vsync_adjust=2
the MiSTer shows
- IMG_1269.jpeg (848.88 KiB) Viewed 1973 times
at the start of Black Tiger,but my Monitor shows

My video mode is custom 1280x960 for vertical arcade cores, and I use vscale_mode=4 with other cores (with 1280x960 as the base resolution, that mode picks a lower, integer-scalable 4:3 resolution). I use a 19" VGA CRT on the HDMI output (with a HDMI->VGA adapter).

I noticed as well that depending on settings and resolution, sometimes the wrong refresh rate is only shown in the mister OSD, but the monitor will show that the refresh rate is actually correct. At other combinations both mister OSD and monitor show that the refresh rate is too high.

After JTFriday's update Black Tiger is working again fine with my settings in mister.ini (video_mode=4 and vsync_adjust=0)
