"Ganpuru - Gunman's Proof" black screen

Hi,
I have been playing "Ganpuru - Gunman's Proof" (with English patched translation; crc32 = 21A5D223) and have encountered a strange issue.
Using my save file (I can provide if allowable on this site) starts you out in town, in your home. Leaving your home, then accessing the world map while still in town, then exiting the map, results in a black screen. I played all the way here (a few hours in) and never encountered anything like this.
I can actually verify the same behavior (using the above rom and save file) in BSNES v115 for windows.
So this doesn't seem to be confined to Mister. I just figured I'd post here to see if there are any recommendations about how to fix.
Thanks,

Did you try with the original Japanese version? It should work with the same save file.

That would rule out an issue with the patch itself.

Thanks for the suggestion. When loading up the orig Japanese rom (in BSNES) and using the above save, the issue is NOT present. So that would suggest the issue (replicable across both Mister and BSNES) is the patch. Is that as far as we can take this?
Thanks!

Sounds like a badly made patch. Contact the original Authors. Unless you can prove that it works correctly on a real SNES in which case its a core issue.

Lol, the patch dates from 2002 (Gideon Zhi) so that's unlikely to happen. But thanks for the help!
