Aw, where's the fun in that?
i guess you would better suggest a rights management system where the board admin / owner can assign posting rights to users and where the threads can be assigned a minimum required role to be able to post there.
banning sounds kind of a little extreme to me.
Forum members who posted have been messaged and brought up to speed on the purpose of the thread, and said erroneous posts removed, overall it really is a very infrequent occurrence.
One of these posters made a good point though: is there any other place (apart from Discord) where updates are advertised?
Or, in other words, are we up to speed with updates in that thread overall? I always thought it's very reliable, but one of them suggested we might be missing out?
The purpose of the thread is for official significant project updates from (https://github.com/mister-devel).
Other developers for example Jotego, have a dedicated Patreon when they post their project development news. The intention of the thread is not to be the definitive source of all information for every single individual project currently being developed for MiSTer outside of the official repository.
If significant new developments occur, news is usually posted in a corresponding sub forum, I certainly post if I spot anything significant and news worthy that is not part of the official projects GitHub.
The latest post this evening by Wickerwaka is the release of the Irem M90 arcade core a big thanks for his awesome continued work!

Thats exactly what I meant by Ban all non devs from posting there
I think it'd be nice to have a thread for unstable releases.
I flagged it up as 2 people had posted there, got me excited thinking there was an update!
Threads 'all good now, so thanks to the mod who removed mine, and the other 2 posts.
The posts triggered the Discord NewsBot and for some reason the bot was posting old news. That was wierd.
