Hooking up an info display

Unread post by LXZ »

I want to tinker a bit with my case and am wondering how to approach my idea of adding a small info display, similar to what you find on some older HTPCs. Something like this:

For starters, the display should display the name of the System that is currently run or even the game name. I supposed I am in way over my head but I just wanted to check anyways. So from both a hardware and software perspective, any suggestions where to start to research this endeavour?

You are quite spoilt for choice. I'd suggest taking a look at tty2oled, tty2tft or i2c2oled.

There is already a project like this

tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On

i2c2oled (little brother of tty2oled)
viewtopic.php?t=2476
It is my great regret that we live in an age that is proud of machines that think and suspicious of people who try to.

It would be cool if TTY2OLED could also display some system status information, but apparently that is difficult or impossible at the moment. It works really well in combination with the MiSTer SAM script, that randomly runs games for a few minutes.
