Sounds like an efficient way of doing things. I should have a look at tty2rpi again, I'm interested in seeing its current state.

...if you were in the neighborhood I'd say to come over here to have some coffee, a break and a stunning view on it's current state.

That would have been fun. I'm at the center of the Netherlands though :)

Smart idea to use Dali if there are no suitable images, looks like that is working quite well.

Oi, is there a software named Dali? I think "Dali" was misleading. I meant "I'm doing it like Dali (Salvador)". Like "...doing a Bob Ross" :)

Never mind, I was thinking of DALL-E, I thought you were using AI to generate game logos :)

That's not that far away from my position...
We should start to think about a user meeting!?

Haha, nice idea! But I'm old school, almost everything handcrafted, alcohol/🌿 driven brain power, paired with old and limp mass of muscles!

I saw someone was suggesting that in southern California as well. You could call it 'MiSTerCon' with a nod to MiSTerKun :D

I'll be taking my MiSTer to the 'Atari Invasion of the Commodore Club' again in a few weeks, which is nearby.

You're not that far away from Saarbrücken I see. I'll be there at the Revision 2023 demo party next week.

Hahaha, sounds good. I like handcrafting everything as well, pixel art, 3D models/renders, code, music etc.

New week, new cores, new pictures!
Picture for the Super Vision 8000 is already available since January and was renamed due to the changed setname.

I have a spare PCBA but no OLED. I could offer to order a OLED for you from AliExpress.

If you are interested just send me a PM. I live in Germany.

I would like to suggest a namechange in the pictures. GAMEBOY should be renamed GBC and GB should be renamed GAMEBOY.
As it is now, when I load a GameBoy game the display says GameBoy Color and vice versa since there is a GameboyColor.mgl with setname GBC.

Although here is a holiday, there was an update yesterday to the Galaxian Core which brings two new games: Moon Quasar and Port Man.
Therefore, of course, two new pictures:

The picture of Port Man may be not displayed as there's an error in the MRA file disrespecting uppercase and lowercase. Please be patient.

A new Core/System is in sight, this time the Taito System SJ. And, as always, I'm faster than light to present you a bunch of new pictures for not-yet-existing arcade games (also available for tty2tft and tty2rpi, of course).

MiSTer got two more new Toaplan games, named Vimana and Same! Same! Same!, that is why I'm presenting new pictures here.
"But wait, what's wrong that", you may ask, and this is correct. I did the picture for Vimana months ago but while pixeling Same! Same! Same! I've found a template for the (certainly soon) arriving next Toaplan game named "Pyros". Riddle solved :)
Sheet updated. Have fun and let's begin battling monsters and alien insects!

I was wondering something. I use the MiSTer Super Attract Mode script a lot. It is a handy script to use at events as well.

The thing is, the often long name of the currently playing game scrolls by very slowly, as the display only scrolls one character per second (the rate at which the script updates the display). It takes a long time to be able to read the full name.

Would it be possible at all to have tty2oled scroll this text, both smoother and faster? And even have it wrap around, like it does with this script? If that is currently not possible, would such a functionality be difficult to add?

If I add such a function I can only add it to the ESP32 Version as the ESP8266 has no space for new functions.
As SAM sends permanently data to the display, we need to make sure everything else works with such a addition.
It's already not easy to keep the 8266 supported with the same code base, but let me think about.
Maybe SAM can speed up the scrolling a bit?

I understand. I can ask, I suppose it only updates once per second because of performance reasons. I remember it scrolling multiple letters at a time before, but that looked a bit confusing.

Hi@all
I released the new Stable tty2oled FW Version 230702.

Run "The Updater" to get the new Display FW.

Changes:

  • Add Support for ESP32-S3 (ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1/d.ti Board)

  • Removed OTA Support

  • Change 8266 NodeMCU Tilt Pin 16 (D0) to Pin 10 (SD3) to prevent false Rotation detection

  • Add Command CMDSTTYACK to (set) enable(1)/disable(0) sending "ttyack". Enabled by default.

  • Using "Preferences" for d.ti Board Revision detection

  • Code Cosmetics

I have tested the FW with the 8266 and it was working fine for me.

If you run "testing" on your system, remove the line

Code: Select all

TTY2OLED_FW_TESTING="yes"

from your tty2oled-user.ini file before you run "The Updater".

Report Problems here.

So I am trying to make my own image, but I get Data Transfer Error when trying to load the system.

I have followed the guide at https://github.com/venice1200/MiSTer_tt ... d_GSC_Gimp but I guess i must be missing something?
I have attached my settings and the resulting file:

Settings are correct, but the file size of your generated gsc file isn't. Yours is having 36957 bytes but has to be aroung 42000 bytes, when generated via image2lcd. Looks like your painted picture has a wrong X/Y dimension, which has to be 256x64 exactly.

If in doubt, just hand over your picture for inspection. I see that it's already attached. Given that and converting it with image2lcd gives me a file of 42065 bytes in length and is working fine.

In your screenshot your image is having a dimension of 240x60 and your attached GIF has the correct dimension of 256x64!!

I see, how weird. I reloaded the .gif into image2lcd and now it got the correct proportions and I successfully loaded the image.

If you think I was lazy the last weeks and months, no, I wasn't, but there was little going on with new cores/pictures. Regardless of this, the last new additions/changes here:

What N64 release date? Haven't checked for some days, maybe the N64 RBF setname has changed for reasons. Will have a look at weekend.

I would guess it didn't load because the .gsc is named 000-N64

Aha, you see? More detailed info leads to help others! In this case it was my fault as I forgot to rename the picture in the repository, which has been fixed now.
