Ghost in the Shell

Unread post by DarkForce_256 »

Asking if anyone else has issues with Ghost in the Shell. I can load the game the cutscene will play but once I get to the menu my Mister reboots.

No problems here. Which power supply are you using? Do you have lots of USB peripherals plugged in? How is your USB hub powered?

Using a Jammix board and a 12V 10Amp power supply. I do have Wifi, Bluetooth, HDD, Keyboard, USB C for PS5 controller connected but I played through Silent Hill on the mister a few months ago without any issues.

Sounds to me like a power supply issue as well. Regardless if the PSU worked before, try another power supply to be sure.

Think it is a power supply issue? I loaded a few other games Lunar, Dino Crisis and didn't have a problem. I don't think I have any others laying around to switch out. I'll try unplugging some peripherals and I'll try a different bin/cue to test it.

Every time I had this issue it was a broken power supply for me, two of my PSUs died in the last years this way. Trying a different bin/cue might help too, maybe its a corrupted SD card. I played GitS on the PSX core for a few hours without problems in the past.

Okay thank you for the help. At first I assumed it was a problem with the core, now I know it's something on my end great!

You could first try removing some of the USB peripherals. If you can, I would remove the HDD and connect the PS5 controller over bluetooth. If the system doesn't crash anymore, then maybe you are indeed facing power supply issues. If it does still crash, then there are no guarantees.

You could also run the build in RAM test to see if it results in any errors.

Also check the checksum of the ISO/CHD to see if you have the proper (functional) game disc.

I have an update. I bought a new PSU from Mister addons, but I still have the same issue of the game crashing and the Mister rebooting. I am starting to suspect a RAM issue. I will run the test for that next. I also tried a few different ISOs but have the same issue. This is just an odd issue to me since other 3d games play fine. N64 and other Playstation games don't give me a problem.

Ran the memory test for a few hours didn't show any errors at 140 MHZ. I guess the next course of action is to remove it from the Jammix board and if that doesn't fix it try a new SD card and installation.

I've tried my version of Ghost in the Shell.

Booted the game, started the game and let the intro play.
Played first level and died on boss.
Played another game and got the the 2nd level and boss and died there.
Game runs fine for me as far as i'm aware.

Yeah I am sure it is either my install, the Jammix, or SDcard/HDD at this point. Thank you for checking.
