How do you get forgotten word/heavy barrel and Midnight resistence to work? In the core I tried to enable D15 Joystick and redefined the keys for movements and start/insert coins until I got to rotation then stoppped but I can't seem to get my buttons to work so I can insert coin/start game.

Edit: I am able to get those games to work by making the mode/way button blink blue. I still have to however use the buttons to turn left/right as I can't use the rotating joystick to do that. is that normal behavior?

Midnight resistance and Forgotten worlds expect the joystick to be set to freeway, mouse mode. If I recall correct it you have to press the mode button until you get the red light and the way button till you get the steady light. No need to enable D15 as I recall it.

Does anyone have to reconfigure or setup the in game keys again everytime the MisterFPGA is rebooted to get this controller to work again?

No, did you save the settings in the core?

Yes, I did save the settings. The buttons appears to be non-responsive until I reconfigure them again in the core. Must be something I'm missing.

Don't have to register them again, only did it one time. Did you register the device also in the MiSTer main menu?

I did not register it in the Mister Main menu, Is there an option to set the GRS joystick in the main menu?

The rotation doesn't need to be registered in the MiSTer main menu. But you must register device itself. Just map the stick and the buttons. Otherwise the core can not recognise the device on the next load.

Can you clarify what you mean by register device itself? I went into the game and mapped the buttons/stick to the way I want it and also set GRS joystick to enabled and saved settings from within the game.

In the MiSTer main menu (not in the core) go to define joystick buttons and register the joystick and the buttons. You should do this with every joystick/gamepad you use with the MiSTer. This way the device is recognised accross all cores with the mappings you made in the main menu. If you don't do this the settings can't be stored properly in the cores.

I see. I have been doing this only in the core itself not on the mister main menu. Thanks much for info.

Edit: Something isn't right about my Ikari Warrirors. Mister sees the GRS fine so I can define buttons there in the main menu. In the core I can set the keys/buttons fine but I cannot start the game or insert coins. In Vicotry Road I don't have that problem as it sees my GRS everytime I reboot the Mister not like Ikari Warriors. I deleted Ikari Warriors and ran update_all but same issue. My Mode/Way button is flashing green.

Make sure to register all buttons of the device in the main menu. If I recall correct I some buttons are seen as duplicates by the MiSTer. From my memory: I was not able to map the 2 buttons at the top of the device and I mapped Coin and Start to the most right buttons.

I tried mapping the buttons to different insert coins/start to various buttons but still doesn't work for me. Pulling my hair out on this one. Buttons work just fine on other games just Ikari Warriors. Do you assign any buttons to the keyboard? I did try mapping buttons to keyboard as well jsut to see if they work but they don't work either for Ikari Warriors.

Just tested it. I mapped Coin and Start to buttons 3 and 6. Works for me.

I'll try to map them to 3/6 when I get home but I'm 100% sure I mapped to those buttons already as well but at this point I'll try anything.
Just to confirm. Your mode/way button is blinking green?

Yes green blinking is the correct setting.
Forget whar I wrote about duplicate buttons earlier, I confused this with another arcade controller I built. All 6 buttons of the GRS can be registered in the MiSTer main menu and then you can map them in the Ikari Warriors core as well.

Unfortunately still no go for me remapping the buttons. I have reached out to Thunderstick support to see if they can provide me with some insight.

OK here's what I found.

Everything works perfectly if I used the alternative version of Ikari Warriors JP.
Makes no sense as I deleted my Ikari warriors .mra/rbf files and ran update_all so it would grab it again. Would you be able to send me your .rbf/mra file or poinbt me where I can get it? I think I grabbed it from the github too but must be the way I downloaded.

I don't think it is the mra. Seems like an old input config file is still active. Look into configs/inputs on your card and delete all Ikari Warriors input files.

That was it, you're awesome! For some reason I had 5 different Ikari Warriors input in my configs.

Hi!
Can anybody list all the games supporting the rotary joystick on mister officially?

I really want to use the stick for jackal, but it doesn't seem to be supported sadly...

thx
